Block YouTube Shorts

Kivvie does not hide Shorts behind a toggle. The child app is built without a Shorts feed, so children cannot swipe into short-form YouTube from inside Kivvie.

What Kivvie removes

The child app does not include the Shorts tab, a vertical swipe feed, comments, the standard home feed, or algorithmic recommendations. Children see videos from channels a parent approved.

This is different from browser extensions or account settings. Those approaches can break when YouTube changes its interface. Kivvie avoids the Shorts surface entirely.

What happens if an approved channel posts Shorts?

Kivvie is designed around full-length videos from approved channels. Shorts are not presented as a child browsing surface in the app.

Use device controls around Kivvie

If your child can also open the regular YouTube app or website, they may still be able to access Shorts outside Kivvie. Use Apple Screen Time, Google Family Link, or device rules to limit regular YouTube access where needed.
